Last week I went on a pre-interview to be part of something super cool! New York City is trying to bring back fashion!! Holler! The economy = sucksville is making a lot of companies go out of business, and for up-and-coming designers it’s scary! To save $$ a lot of companies have moved their manufacturing to overseas factories…b/c they are cheaper (which I will NEVERRRR do!) <—New York Couture IS New York!!
New York is KNOWN for being the fashion capital of the world. What will happen without a thriving fashion community?! So NYC has created some fun initiatives to bring fashion back:
There’s a designer showroom run by NYC for ONLY designers that produce here (cool right!). They had interviews to be part of a “contest” to get a spot in their showroom in the center of the fashion district. I went on the interview last week…and was picked to come to the judging yesterday. We were told the market editor from Allure Magazine, the buyer from Saks Fifth Avenue, editor at New York Post, and more would be on the panel. I love a good competition…so in I went!! <—-aka I like to win! lol. My collection stood out like a hot pink sore thumb!!! All the other designers were super nice….but they all had super clean contemporary collections…and then there were Pandas, ect lolol. While other designers presented….I was the entertainment…out of control like usual! A few hours after the judging was over…I got an email letting me know that the buyer from SAKS loved me and I was the favorite. But the other judges could have HATED me…So fingers crossed I get into the showroom…b/c then it’s WORLD DOMINATION!!! Holler! I find out on Tuesday. Will keep you posted : )
